What is Feel and Rise

While the Earth is getting hotter, the atmosphere in public space and politics seems to be getting colder. We are blown away by facts about climate change or inequality and the screams of people with different opinions. But what do we feel? What emotions come up, living in a world going through multiple worsening crises?

Feel & Rise is a bottom-up publication, a pamphlet perhaps, that reflects how I, you, we feel about the world we live in. Moreover, it encourages readers and writers to think about and imagine the world you would like to live in. Maybe you are suffering from the summer heat in your room, you are afraid of Big Tech, or you get hope from the insects on your balcony. A big potential to unite is unleashed when we share our feelings, emotions and ideals. Maybe, we can change how we relate to one another: from random strangers to citizens who share concerns and hopes. That is why we create space, on paper and in real life, for creative, personal, emotional stories about how we are affected and what we long for in a world in crisis. Let us feel…and rise.

We do this by inviting people by submitting short contributions, written or visual. This can be anything: a short poem, an anecdote, a page from your diary, a drawing, a photo. Anything, as long as it is personal and about feelings rather than facts or opinions.

The newspaper can take many shapes, but now it takes the form of a small zine. This is distributed in public spaces: in cafes, libraries, schools and universities, cinemas. And maybe even on the train, where you might find one, read it, and when you have finished it, leave it somewhere else, so that the next person can read it.

All of this, we try to do as collectively as possible, inviting everyone who contributes to also join in the creation or distribution of the publication.
